The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category May Address This Issue
Each time a significant honors show approaches, there’s always a clamor to include of new categories to acknowledge unsung work and satisfy the spirits of enthusiasts dedicated to specific genres.
A fellow writer made the case advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. So would board games, representing a dedicated supporter's campaign. Yet I need to apologize in advance when I prioritize just as with other single-minded supporters, there's a strong justification for why my demand stands as crucial and significant. Here's the proposal: There should be an award type for logic-based games.
The Genre Classification Challenge
Organizing artistic expressions defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and it will always generate discussions resulting in unclear classifications. It's understandable that film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents an unavoidable compromise for the industry of interactive entertainment, which are so diverse they hardly constitute as a single art form.
For comprehensive acknowledgment of interactive entertainment excellence to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.
Current Gaming Award Categories
Prominent interactive entertainment events presently include genre categories for Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these award types actually cover a lot of ground, allowing placement for most games within them.
This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. No appropriate category exists to put them. Think about these outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: structural challenges of one title, intense tile-matching in a different title, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles from additional release. Which classification works between these six categories? Simply put, no category fits.
Acknowledgment Issues
There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games released every year without proper recognition in entertainment awards, except when they manage to fit for categories like Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive small studio competitions.
- A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated completely in 2014
- Another creative title missed out in 2019
- Well-received sorting experience was overlooked recently
- Only a few logic titles barely qualified for niche award types
Importance of Logic Titles
These are often compact experiences, but the art in brain-teasers holds tremendous importance. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as most engaged experiences globally continuing this trend for over a decade.
The iconic tile-matching title rivals famous sandbox experiences competing to become best-selling game of all time; it also contends for best game of all time. Logic titles represent cornerstones for gaming as medium, while interacting across multiple categories.
The Solution and Justification
Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. One could readily select five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent so many good games out.
To emphasize again, these include experiences lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators operate at the challenging frontier game development, developing some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Comparable to cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. Don't make them wait generations.
